Our Unique Learning Approach
Kumon Method for Math and English
We use the renowned Kumon method for Math and English. Kumon materials are designed to help students master skills and excel beyond their grade level.
Kids learn at their own pace; they can take their time with tricky parts or move ahead if they’re ready for more.
It boosts their confidence, helps them focus, and teaches them how to work independently—skills that will support them throughout their education and life!
Why Choose Little Ummah
At little Ummah we provide a unique solution to provide affordable Islamic education at pre-school level
Short Class Duration
Young children typically have shorter attention spans, usually ranging from 10 to 20 minutes. We have observed in a full-time preschool kids only spend 2-3 hrs on academic studies and the rest for other less important activities. We have efficiently designed our classes to maintain short class duration with maximum benefit.

Low Tuition Fees
Many Muslim parents face difficulties enrolling their children in Islamic private schools due to high fees. At Little Ummah Academy, we have optimized our home school setup to lower overhead costs, allowing families to spend less on tuition fees.
Unlike traditional school systems, we tailor our lesson plans and academic goals to meet each child's background and needs. For instance, if a child struggles with pencil control, we begin with tracing lines to build their skills gradually. If a child has already mastered the English alphabet, we teach them vocabulary words.

Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum is anchored in the Texas Common Core Curriculum, ensuring that we meet state educational standards. To enhance our teaching effectiveness, we incorporate the renowned Kumon Method for instruction in both math and English.

The math curriculum focuses on building foundational math skills through hands-on exploration and problem-solving. Key areas include counting and recognizing numbers, understanding basic addition and subtraction with objects, identifying and creating patterns, sorting and classifying objects, comparing measurements (e.g., length, weight, volume), and recognizing shapes.

The English Language Arts curriculum, based on Common Core standards, focuses on building early literacy skills through hands-on, engaging activities. It emphasizes foundational concepts such as print awareness, phonological awareness, letter recognition, and phonics. Children develop reading comprehension by listening to and discussing stories, identifying story elements, and making connections to personal experiences.

We emphasize on proper letter pronunciation, letter recognition, and reading with vowels (harakat). The curriculum introduces the 28 Arabic letters, teaching students the correct articulation and recognition of each letter in its different forms. Students also learn to read simple words with vowels, gradually progressing to basic Quranic vocabulary and phrases. The goal is to prepare students for reading the Quran with proper pronunciation, laying a strong foundation for future Quranic literacy and recitation.
The students will learn key concepts such as self-awareness, community, geography, history, economics, and citizenship. Students explore their personal identity, family roles, and cultural traditions, while learning about the people and symbols in their community. They develop an understanding of basic concepts like time, geography (maps, local landmarks), and economics (needs, wants, money). The curriculum also emphasizes respect for diversity, government roles, and social responsibility, fostering an appreciation for different cultures and the importance of helping others.
